Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University

Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University combines the best of both worlds: Practical training and theoretical studies are combined to create synergies and deeper learning.

The Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) is unique in the way it integrates theory and practice at a university level. It has campuses in nine locations and offers more than 60 nationally and internationally recognized bachelor and master programs in business, engineering and social sciences. For its unique approach, DHBW has partnered with more than 9000 companies and institutions.

Synergies between theory and practice

Students switch regularly between theoretical instruction at the university and practical work at a company. This way, theoretical knowledge can directly be applied and tested in real life situations. In turn, experiences in a company setting lead to new study and research approaches. This creates synergies and prepares you in a unique and very effective way for your career.

However, applying is a bit more involved than at other universities. You need to have an employment contract with one of the corporate partners before you can start your studies. Contact the international office for more information.

Benefits of studying at DHBW

Being able to combine real work with your studies in a synergistic way has many advantages: You get to know your potential future employer very well and are able to do meaningful work in your chosen profession. You are also compensated financially by your employer. Your employer, in turn, also gets to know you and sees how you can use start-of-the art knowledge and skills in your job. Not surprisingly, DHBW graduates are highly employable. In 2019 and 2020, more than 85 percent of DHBW graduates had signed employment contracts directly upon graduation.
